UNIVERSITY OF MONTENEGRO - INSTITUTE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "ACROSS LANGUAGES AND CULTURES" Hotel "Plaža", Herceg Novi, Montenegro - June 04 – 06, 2009.
CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary, the Institute of Foreign Languages, University of Montenegro, organises international conference "Across Languages and Cultures". The aim of the Conference is to discuss theories and practices in the fields of linguistics, language for specific purposes, translation, literatures, methodology of foreign language teaching and intercultural communication.
The topics of the Conference are:
1. Linguistics (phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, contrastive linguistics, sociolinguistics, cognitive linguistics...)
2. Language for specific purposes (needs analysis, material design, testing, vocabulary and grammar in language for specific purposes...)
3. Translation (literary and technical translation, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, translation studies curricula, theories and research in translation studies...)
4. Literature (literary theories, literary criticism, narratology, literature curricula in pholology studies, reception of foreign literatures...)
5. Methodology of teaching foreign langugages (theories and practices in foreign language teaching, testing, error analysis...)
6. Intercultural communication (langugages, literature and cultures in contact...)
Talks should be up to 20 minutes long and will be followed by a 10 minute discussion. Languages of the Conference are English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Montenegrin/Serbian/Bosnian/Croatian.

Deadline for submission of a proposal for a presentation is March 31, 2009 (You can find the Registraion Form in the attachment). Deadline for participants who want to attend the conference is April 30, 2009. Conference fee is 60 euros. You can pay the conference fee upon registration in the Hotel or via an account of the Institute of Foreign Languages. We wil send the instruction for payments via account in the next announcement.

Room prices in the Hotel Plaza (full board):
- Prices for half-board are 7 euros lower per person per day. Prices for bad and breakfast are 5 euros lower per person per day. - Additional tourist tax of 1 euro per day is also charged.
Travel arrangements
We recommend plane for participants coming from outside the region. You can reach Montenegro through the airports Tivat, Dubrovnik or Podgorica. There are taxis and mini busses from the Airport Tivat. The Companz “Boka Sun” organizes transport by mini busses at the price of 8 euros per person. Contact: Boka Sun at +382-67-301-272. You can also reach the Hotel “Plaza” from the airports Dubrovnik and Tivat by taxi (approximately 40 euros).
There are also rent-a-car services at each airport. Participants coming by train via Bar can reach Herceg Novi by coach as well. Participants from the region can reach Herceg Novi by coach.
